Hurricane Helene hit Western North Carolina in late September 2024.
Our club is still unable to resume scheduled hiking. We are scouting trails to verify they are usable but many of our regular areas where we hike are still closed.
Below is a photo of a whiteboard from the Pisgah Ranger Station visitor center.
This was updated on Saturday, October 26.
Note they say all trails in Pisgah are open - but with sections of trail washed out and some trees down across them. We do not consider them able to be hiked by most members of our club.
The Blue Ridge Parkway will probably closed for months and we have many hikes that need to access the BRP.
DuPont State Forest is still closed as is Gorges State Park.
We will keep hikers updated as more trails open.
Come with us and experience the diverse natural wonders of Western North Carolina and the Upstate of South Carolina. Our hikes cover a range of terrain from gentle slopes to strenuous mountains, often featuring waterfalls, rocky peaks, spring wildflowers fall colors, fog-covered mountains and clear
views for miles.
We are a hiking club based out of Hendersonville, NC. We have hikes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays every week. We leave the specified Meeting Point by 8:30am sharp. Our hikes typically range from 5 to 10 miles in length with total ascents between 500 feet to over 2000 feet. We have three hikes on Monday and two on Thursday and one on Wednesday.
We have a wide range of interesting hikes. We range from very easy and nearby hikes such as Carl Sandburg's Connemara to distant and difficult hikes such as Mount LeConte in the Smokys. The majority of our hikes are in the Pisgah National Forest, but we have a number of hikes in DuPont State Forest and in the Upstate of South Carolina
Do you have a question about one of our hikes or would like to hike with us? Send a message, and we will get back to you shortly.
